Injury Treatment

We understand the complexities of high-level rehabilitation, and are experts in preventing, evaluating, diagnosing, treating and rehabilitating sports-related injuries. Our experts use individualized, cutting-edge, and science-based techniques to help speed recovery and restore function.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. In this way, PRP injections use each individual patient’s own healing system to improve musculoskeletal problems.

PRP injections are prepared by taking anywhere from one to a few tubes of your own blood and running it through a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. These activated platelets are then injected directly into your injured or diseased body tissue. This releases growth factors that stimulate and increase the number of reparative cells your body produces.

IMAGING

For our patients’ convenience, we provide on-site medical imaging services. These services include:

  • Digital X-ray– Digital radiography (digital X-ray) is a form of X-ray imaging where digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. Advantages include increased efficiency by eliminating the need for chemical processing and the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images.
  • 3T MRI– Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique that uses a magnetic field and computer-generated radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues in your body.
  • DEXA– A DEXA scan is a high-precision type of X-ray that measures your bone mineral density and bone loss. The test is noninvasive, fast, and more accurate than a regular X-ray. It involves an extremely low level of radiation.
  • Ultrasound – An ultrasound is used to create an image of internal body structures such as tendons, muscles, joints, blood vessels, and internal organs. Its aim is often to find a source of a disease or to exclude pathology.

HOSPITALIZATION

If you need to be hospitalized, we will coordinate your care closely with hospital-based physicians (hospitalists) and/or specialists. While our providers will not manage your in-hospital care directly, we work together with the DCH Hospitalist Group to plan your treatment and to ensure that you receive the highest level of care.
